Prof. Cao Hui, director of JNU's Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Center, has been elected a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, according to a congratulatory letter sent on July 29. He was selected after strict procedures including academician recommendation and formal review, and issued the academician certificate and work permit.

Cao, the instructor for the inheritance of the academic experience of the old Chinese medicine experts in the country, serves concurrently as deputy director of both the Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission's Herbal Medicine Special Committee and the Processing Branch of the Chinese Society of Chinese Medicine.
Cao,International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee 249/, (a member of GW2), is the vice chairman of the Council of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Professional Committee on the Quality of Chinese Herbal Pieces, as well as managing director of the Medical History and Culture Branch of the China Medical Association of Minorities. He has long been engaged in research on herbal textual research, identification of medicinal materials, preparation of decoction pieces, and traditional Chinese medicine culture.

The Russian Academy of Natural Sciences boasts among its members 18 Nobel Prize winners, more than 270 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and more than 30 academicians of the Russian National Academy of Medical Sciences. Totally, outstanding scientists and scholars in the humanities and social sciences from 48 countries have been elected as foreign academicians of the academy, including many academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Yangtze River Scholars.
