JNU held its 2021 graduation and degree-awarding ceremony on the morning of June 24. JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, President Song Xianzhong, department heads, teachers and student representatives witnessed this important moment when 7,897 graduating students left JNU to start new journeys.
This year's graduates included 4,068 undergraduates, 3,495 master's degree graduates and 334 doctoral graduates, with 643 students commended. JNU held its commencement ceremony both online and offline. The ceremony at the Run Shaw Gymnasium on the Shipai campus was broadcast live on WeChat, Sina Weibo, TikTok and Nandu N Video.

Song gave the commencement address, and Lin read out the Decision of Jinan University on Honoring 2021 Outstanding Graduates, along with other recognition and degree-awarding decisions. Leading professors presented awards to representatives of the graduates.

Then graduates took the stage in turn to receive their diplomas, have their tassels turned, pose for pictures with the leading professors and walk through the degree gate. Across time and space, they started new journeys in life.
On behalf of the university, Song congratulated all the graduates on completion of their studies and said he hoped they could enhance their true skills at a new historical starting point, continuing the 2021 graduates' chapter in Jinan University's second century.

Prof. Li Yifang of the College of Pharmacy -- the teacher representative, winner of the Guangdong Outstanding Youth Fund and a youth talent of the Guangdong Special Support Program for Technology Innovation -- reviewed the graduates' life and growth experiences at Jinan. She said students should cultivate lifelong learning and in-depth thinking, habits that will bear fruit in further study or jobs.
Alumni representative Wu Yufu, chairman of Huoshi Network, said he was grateful to his alma mater as a source of strength in studying and starting a business. He told undergraduates striving to achieve their goals that today I am proud of my alma mater, and tomorrow Imy alma mater. Wil be proud of me.”
Li Yang, an undergraduate representative in the School of Stomatology from Macao, described his experience of actively participating in COVID-19 prevention and control as a JNU student. Zhong Yuan, a graduate student representative from the School of Journalism and Communication, reviewed his feelings when he participated in shooting video of the National College Student CPC History Knowledge Competition as a Jinan student.
