Chemical Science has published the research of Prof. Ning Guohong and Prof. Li Dan's group from Jinan University and Prof. Zou Bo's group from Jilin University, who jointly designed and synthesized a carbazole-based cyclic trinuclearCu(I) complexes with double emissions.
Placed in different reactive solvents, the complexes formed different molecular packing, producing distinct responses to pressure and a relatively rare effect: pressure-induced phosphorescence enhancement. As the first report on metallic ring trinuclear complexes as piezochromic materials, this research brings a new opportunity to enrich the means of regulating and studying the stimulation response mechanism of piezochromic materials.
The corresponding authors are Ning and Li from JNU's College of Chemistry and Materials Science, and Prof. Zou Bo from the State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials at Jilin University. The first author is Xie Mo, a postdoctoral fellow in the College of Chemistry and Materials Science. This research is supported by the State Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Major Project of Guangdong Basic and Applied Research, the Outstanding Project Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong and the Young Pearl River Scholars Project of Guangdong.
