JNU held the finals of the 2021 Internet Plus Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition online on May 27. With the theme Dare to Differ, Dare to Win, the competition was held simultaneously on JNU's five campuses. It attracted over 3,000 participants with 607 projects. Among the 137 recommended by the colleges, 38 entered the finals after preliminary rounds and semifinals.

Six projects won gold awards: Qiming Eye Drops: Forerunner of New Ophthalmic Drugs, Shenghai Workshop: The Greater Bay Area Youth Voice Pilot Plan, Synbiotics: Multifunctional Soil, Bitcoin Port: A Digital Asset Protection and Forensics Platform Based on Blockchain Technology, JNU Smart Transportation: Create a New Era of Smart Transportation and A Medical Instant Film-Forming Notorious Oxide Liquid Dressing for Antibacterial Repair.”
The annual Internet Plus competition is a national event jointly hosted by 12 ministries and local governments, including the Ministry of Education and the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee. It has risen to be part of the national strategy for innovation-driven development, shouldering multiple responsibilities and missions. The competition, held for seven times to date, is the most influential event for college students' innovation and entrepreneurship with the highest level, the widest coverage and the largest number of participants in China.
