Situated in the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area and at the intersection of the Belt and Road Initiative, JNU enjoys a unique educational mode and profound influence, both in China and abroad. Guided by national strategies, it has formed the philosophy of inheritance · harmony · symbiosis as its core while putting a high priority on the education of students from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese and international students.

JNU has established its educational concept of personalized education, implicit education and symbiotic education. Based on students' varying abilities, it has formulated individualized talent-training plans, launched team-teaching and classified cultivating programs to enhance students' personal growth. 

With a focus on the symbiosis between people and culture in teaching, the university promotes integrated development of all students and cultivates their spirit of harmony through outstanding traditional Chinese culture, thus realizing harmonious coexistence among people, culture and society.

JNU enrolls excellent students from the mainland through college entrance examinations. It recruits outstanding Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, overseas Chinese and international students through the Jinan University and Huaqiao University joint application program, the National Joint Entrance Examination, and preparatory courses. Nowadays, these groups account for about one-third of JNU's full-time undergraduates,

What's more, JNU insists on contributing to the Excellent Future system of upgraded talent-training in innovation and entrepreneurship through the platform of WE Makerspace, the first makerspace for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan youths, established in 2016. It has become a model base in Guangzhou innovation and entrepreneurship training and incubation programs. By emphasizing the cultivation of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students’ innovation and career-development abilities, JNU works to improve their innovation proficiency, thus promoting scientific and technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area.
