The volunteer service project Constructing a Community-Level 'Convergence Media' Communication System from JNU's School of Journalism and Communication was among the Best Volunteer Service Projects in the list of 2020 Guangdong Learning-From-Lei Feng Volunteer Service Advanced Models.

The project has been popularized into 26 county-level convergence media centers in Guangdong and established the system rooted at community-level, covering about 50 million people since its implementation in 2018. After the outbreak of COVID-19, the project team organized youth commandos against the pandemic and launched volunteer services like publicity and community pandemic prevention and control by leveraging its professional advantages in journalism and communication. The team also produced interactive narrative games and audio works, and organized other special anti-pandemic activities, attracting media coverage from official website of the the United Front Work Development of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the National Religious Affairs Administration's official website, Nanfang Daily, Nanfang Law Journal, Yangcheng Evening News, and Macao Daily News. The project also won the Gold Award in the fifth Chinese Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Central Civilization Office, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and four other authorities in December.
Held by the Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee of Guangdong Province, the 2020 Guangdong Learning-From-Lei Feng Volunteer Service Advanced Models Publicity and Selection Activities has selected 50 Most Beautiful Volunteer, 30 Best Volunteer Service Organization, 50 Best Volunteer Service Project and 30 Most Beautiful Volunteer Service Community.
