Two JNU professors have been named model comrades in the seventh batch of demonstration sites and post models learning from Lei Feng ( a deceased comrade of earnestness and service) in Guangdong Province announced by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China's Guangdong Provincial Committee on March 3. They are Ming Weijie, an associate professor in the School of Medicine, and Chen Zuhui, chief physician of the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU .
After the outbreak of COVID-19, Ming, who comes from Hong Kong, immediately established a youth volunteer service team to spread medical knowledge, dispel virus-related rumors online and teach people how to protect themselves against the virus. The team's actions gave full play to the team's professional advantages and the strength of young people. In October, Ming was awarded the title Advanced Individual of Youth Volunteer in the fight against COVID-19 by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the China Youth Volunteers. In December, Ming and his team were selected as Guangdong's Models of Excellent Volunteers.

In September, Chen was named a National Advanced Individual in the fight against COVID-19. In addition, he has taken an active part in disaster relief work after floods on the Yangtze River in 1998 and the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, showing his bravery, fearlessness and sense of responsibility as an outstanding Communist Party member.
