The Seminar on Sino-American Higher Education Cooperation and the Seminar on the Work of Chinese Universities Under the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual-Degree Program, sponsored by the China Center for International Educational Exchange and organized by JNU, was held simultaneously online and offline in Guangzhou on March 23. In attendance were Over 100 leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Education’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the China Education Association for International Exchange, the Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Guangdong Department of Education, the Guangdong Education Association for International Exchange and 30 of the 1+2+1 program's member universities.

In the welcome speech, JNU Vice President Wang Bing said he hoped to exchange and share more through this platform to deal with new challenges in the post-pandemic era, and to explore a new blueprint for Sino-American cooperation in talent training and education.
Chen Dali, director of the Ministry department's Division of American and Oceanian Affairs, said Chinese universities should firmly insist on the opening-up of the education sector, the distinctive feature and vital impetus of educational modernization. He encouraged the universities to enhance the communication with other countries.
Shen Xuesong, vice secretary of the exchange association, encouraged Chinese universities to further facilitate communication and cooperation between Chinese and American universities under the new trend and contribute to more Sino-American people-to-people exchange.
The Meeting Scene
The Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual-Degree Program is a new type of two-way communication and cooperation program between China and the U.S. It was launched and is managed by the China Education Association for International Exchange, the China Center for International Education Exchange and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. So far, 165 universities have become members: 124 Chinese and 41 American. Undergraduate and graduate students receive diplomas and bachelor's or master's degrees from both universities,and more than 5,000 Chinese studied at American universities from 2004 to 2020.
