The Ethos of new China and Literature Classics Creation, a thesis written by Prof. Jiang Shuzhuo of JNU’s School of Literature and his student Li Shi, was published in Social Sciences in China's second edition of 2021. This thesis describes the evolution of the ethos of new China in literature and its interaction with the creation of literary classics. 

The thesis consists of three parts. The first traces the manifestations of the ethos of new China through different development stages of literature: patriotism, independence, hard struggle, national unity, reflection, reform and opening up, keeping pace with the times, pluralism and inclusiveness, as well as innovation and community with a shared future for mankind. The second reveals how the ethos of new China interacts with literary classics and sheds light on the complexities and general rules of literature, from the perspectives of literary system, literary creation and literary criticism. The third provides constructive thinking to build an innovative mechanism for writing literary classics in new China, based on political issues, the people, literary criticism and literary creation.

The thesis was published in the journal's column Theory and Practice of the Chinese Communist Party in the Past 100 Years on Social Sciences in China.” 

Jiang, China's top leader in the discipline of literature and art -- a national key discipline -- and chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Writers' Association, promotes the development of the theory of modern Chinese literary criticism based on years of literary creation and critical practice.
