In the General Office of the Ministry of Education's list of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction for 2020, 13 JNU majors were selected as the National First-class Undergraduate Major: economic statistics, applied chemistry, international business, international economics and trade, biotechnology, public administration, teaching Chinese as a second language,  optoelectronic science information and engineering, directing (film and TV), English, cyber security, television broadcasting science, and marketing.

Twelve majors were selected as the Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major: intellectual property, information and computing science, civil engineering, Japanese, applied physics, oral medicine, translation, ecology, nursing, mathematics and applied mathematics, electronic information engineering, and hospitality management.
To date, JNU has 31 national first-class undergraduate majors under construction and 21 on the provincial level.
