The opening ceremony of Jinan University and Huawei's Intelligent Center, a collaborative training base for industry-education integration, was held on JNU's Shipai Campus on Jan. 18. In attendance were JNU President Song Xianzhong; Vice Presidents Zhang Hong and Wang Bing; and the heads of the Undergraduate School, the Student Career Guidance Center, and the Human Resources Development and Management Office.
In the opening speech, Song said JNU and Huawei had a long partnership in talent training, scientific research and many other fields. The establishment of this base will further promote their cooperation in computing, artificial intelligence and other fields. JNU will take this opportunity to lead industry-education integration and collaborative education, training outstanding talents in information technology. JNU and Huawei will jointly construct an ecosystem for industries and talents based on key and core technologies in information technology to develop China's digital economy. At the same time, Song said he expected that the two sides could further focus on China's major fields and directions for development, carrying out in-depth cooperation in interdisciplinary, cutting-edge science and joint training of international students He said he hoped the two sides could jointly create new talent-training and school-enterprise cooperation, as well as promote scientific and technological innovation.

After the ceremony, the two sides carried out in-depth discussion and exchanges over various matters, from talent training and teaching reform to employment, internship and curriculum construction.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Huawei has established Intelligent Center bases at a number of universities and colleges. It aims to cultivate high-level talents with good command of core technologies in the information industry for the future, and to construct an ecosystem for industries and talents based on key and core technologies in information technology, cultivating more talents to promote high-quality economic development. JNU is one of the first 72 colleges to cooperate with Huawei in the centers.
