The 2020 Annual Conference on the Audiovisual Communication of the Chinese History of Journalism, Visual Technology Research: Visual Communication and Contemporary Society, was held online on Dec. 12. The conference was hosted by the Audiovisual Communication Research Committee on the Chinese History of Journalism and Communication and undertaken by JNU's School of Journalism and Communication.

JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng pointed out that in the context of the Covid-19, the conference's online platform provided unlimited space to exchange ideas. In this case, it is of great significance to have a discussion on visual culture, he said, and facing the pluralistic visual technology and practice of modern visual culture, discussion in this field needs urgent attention.
Covid-19 highlights the special significance of audio-visual media research, said Fan Yijin, honorary dean of the School of Journalism and Communication. All-round development of video, he said, but puts video development in an important position.
Zhi Tingrong, president of the Audiovisual Communication Research Committee, pointed out that online audiovisual has become a normal cognitive and environmental phenomenon that has changed ways of life, as well as the environment and subject of academic thinking.
Scholars from various research fields spoke on topics including the production and management of short videos; development trends in network film and television; sound media; and visual attention mechanisms.
