Lin Peiyuan, a young writer and researcher in the Postdoctoral Research Center of Chinese Language and Literature in JNU's School of Literature, was among the winners of the Second Star of Zhongshan Literature Award, announced in Nanjing on Nov. 14. The awards ceremony was hosted by Jia Mengwei, editor-in-chief of Zhongshan Journal, and attended by editors of the magazine, participants in the 34th Young Writers Reading Class of Jiangsu Writers Association and literary enthusiasts.

The award was established by Zhongshan Journal in 2019 for the writers under 35. It includes the Annual Young Writer Prize and the Annual Youth Excellent Work Prize, which Lin won for his 2020 story collection The Wonder Child and Recorder (《神童与录音机》).
Born in Shantou, Guangdong, Lin studied comparative literature and world literature in JNU's College of Liberal Arts, earning his Master of Arts degree in 2014. This year, he received a Ph.D. in literature from Tsinghua University's Department of Chinese Language and Literature. Lin has published his fiction in many literary publications, including Flower City, Literature and Art of Guangzhou, and Youth Literature, as well as academic papers in such publications such as Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art, Modern Chinese Literature Studies, Yangtze River Criticism and Contemporary Writers Review. He also received the fourth Zijin · Star of People's Literature Short Story Excellent Work Award in 2016. The Wonder Child and Recorder was among the Top 10 Fiction Books of the Jing Bao·Shenzhen-Hong Kong Book Review in 2019, and the title story of that was selected for Short Story 2019, edited by the editorial department of the People's Literature Publishing.
