The 40th anniversary of the JNU's School of Economics and the Deans' Summit was held in the JNU Auditorium on Nov. 7. Leaders of JNU, government institutions and more than 10 colleges and universities in and outside Guangdong, as well as celebrities, alumni in China and abroad, representatives of retirees, teachers and students attended the celebration, together witnessing the school’s 40 years of glory.

JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng noted that, guided by the university’s motto and spirit, the School of Economics has cultivated more than 50,000 outstanding students. He said he hoped that, with its profound historical background, the School of Economics would take the anniversary as a brand-new opportunity and create a splendid chapter in becoming the “first-class international discipline.”

Dean Feng Shuaizhang reported in detail on the school's decades of development and paid his respects to the elder generation of distinguished economists who have made great contributions to the school.
Ye Huiquan, a member of JNU's Board of Directors and president of the school's alumni association, looked back on his student days at JNU and the contributions he made to his alma mater as a junior student, senior student, alumnus and president. Jinan University and the School of Economics are my home, he said. I wish them all the best!”

Paying tribute to the elder generation of distinguished economists, President Song Xianzhong presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to past deans Zhang Yongan, Feng Bangyan, Zhang Jie and Liu Shaobo.

As part of the celebration, a donation ceremony was held to support the school's talent grant program. Alumni and all sectors of society donated to the school's educational development of School in various ways. Some companies and individuals donated money to the school, including Ye, the vice chairman of Education Development Foundation; Luo Ding, president of the education group EIFQ Science and Technology Ltd.; Dongguan Securities Co., Ltd., and Guangdong Zhong Ke Information Technology Co., Ltd. Prof. Hu Jiang, a famous artist, donated paintings and calligraphy to the school as a collection.
The school held a live-streamed event for alumni worldwide on Oct. 31. Over 50,000 alumni joined to relive their JNU experience.
