Jinan University and BioKangtai held the signing ceremony for strategic cooperation and the opening ceremony of the Jinan University-BioKangtai Biomedical Research Center on Oct. 29. JNU President Song Xianzhong, Vice President Hong An and Board Member Ke Rongqing; Du Weimin, chairman and president of the vaccine producer BioKangtai, and representatives of JNU’s Executive Master of Business Administration Class of 2002 attended.

Song said JNU would work with BioKangtai to implement the strategy of famous university plus famous enterprise and carry out in-depth strategic cooperation in scientific research, personnel training, brand-building and contributions to public welfare. JNU and BioKangtai will construct the biomedical research center and establish a postdoctoral innovation and practice base to integrate education plus industry and explore a win-win mode of talent training for universities and talent introduction for enterprises. The two sides will later jointly establish a School of Public Health at JNU, committed to building a new world-class public health discipline and cultivating high-level talents to advance international public health undertakings in the future.

As an outstanding alumnus in the Class of 2002, Du reflected on his days at JNU and thanked all the teachers and university leaders who had nurtured and cared about him. As a JNUer, Du always takes the motto of loyalty, sincerity, integrity and respect as the operating principle of BioKangtai. Seeing this cooperation as an opportunity, he said he hoped to build BioKangtai into a first-class bio-pharmaceutical enterprise in China that will add luster to his alma mater and open up innovative path for the development of China's bio-pharmaceutical industry.
