Jinan University has been approved as a National Intellectual Property Pilot University 2020 and one of the first Trial Units Granted Research Personnel's Ownership or Long-Term Use Right to Post Achievements, according to notices by the State Intellectual Property Office, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. This is another important achievement for JNU in intellectual property creation, management and operation systems, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. JNU was approved as the Scientific and Technological Achievements Transformation Base in Colleges and Universities 2020.
In the last three years, 76 JNU patents have been transferred and more than 800 JNU technologies have been popularized and applied to enterprises, with a contract value of nearly 2 billion yuan, strongly supporting the innovation-driven development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and China. Through intellectual property rights transfer, licensing, pricing and investment, JNU has simultaneously brought research, development, application, transformation and promotion of a number of major projects to fruition. Among the projects, JNU's patents for an α FGF liposome and a drug for treatment of gouty arthritis and its processing method and application among other inventions won the Excellence Award in the China Patent Awards.
On Feb. 24, the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the Ministry of Education jointly formulated the National Intellectual Property Pilot Demonstration University Construction Work Plan (Trial), and on May 9, nine ministries, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, issued the Implementation Plan. These plans are to make full use of the intellectual property system's role in providing basic guarantees to stimulating innovation; vigorously enhance the capability and level of intellectual property in colleges and universities; deepen the reform of the right to use, dispose of and profit from scientific and technological achievements; further stimulate researchers' enthusiasm for innovation, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. After applications, recommendations, evaluations and other procedures,the Work Plan and Implementation Plan have selected the first 80 national intellectual property pilot universities and 40 pilot trial units.
