Jinan University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Population and Development Research Center (CPDRC), the Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company (OCT Group) and ZhongJing Holding Co., Ltd., in Shenzhen on Oct. 28 to establish the Higher Development Center of the Health Industry and the Higher Institute of Health Tourism.
The cooperation agreement is intended to build a collaborative industry-university-research platform by seizing the development opportunity of the Healthy China Initiative and integrating the advantageous resources of colleges, universities and enterprises. It also aims to integrate industrial development, market expansion, scientific research and talent training, as well as increase the connection among these areas through integration transformation and practice in industrial applications.
The health industry worldwide has become a strong impetus to the growth of China's economy, said He Dan, a member of the National Committee of the China's People's Political Consultative Conference and director of the CPDRC. The establishment of the two institutions is an active try for the innovative mechanism of industry-university-research integration during the construction of the Healthy China Initiative, demonstrating that cooperation between the National Health Commission's research think tanks and universities and enterprises has entered a substantial stage.”
JNU President Song Xianzhong said that JNU, together with the CPDRC, the OCT Group and ZhongJing, will carry out overall cooperation in intelligent biochips, cell and gene therapy, biomedical science, new traditional Chinese medicine, health economic management and health tourism. They will also accelerate the implementation of Healthy China and strive to achieve all-win results for the government, colleges and universities, enterprises, the intellectual property industry, and the entire industry chain to contribute more to national and regional economic development.
Under the agreement, JNU, relying on the two institutions, will build an industrial ecological platform incorporating technology integration and transformation, industry-university-research applications and the actions of Healthy China. With the Healthy China Initiative at its core, universities, enterprises and government will exert their strengths to conduct extensive cooperation in biomedical science, health management, health tourism and talent training based on the comprehensive health environment.
