JNU held the fifth member representative assembly of the China World Association for Chinese Literatures on Oct. 20. Tan Tianxing, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, spoke. JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, President Song Xianzhong and Prof. Jiang Shuzhuo, consultant to the association and president of the Guangdong Provincial Writers' Association, attended the opening ceremony.

Tan highly praised the work of the association's fourth council, saying he hoped it could strengthen its construction in future development and unite overseas Chinese writers. He also said he hoped the association could further reinforce cultural self-confidence, tell Chinese stories, help people communicate and make new contributions to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
After describing the association's history and achievements, Lin said JNU would like to work with it to promote the prosperity and development of Chinese literature, and to contribute to the unity of the Chinese people at home and abroad to share the Chinese Dream.
After the opening ceremony, participants summarized the fourth council's work, elected a new council and leaders, and proposed its development plan.
The council's new president, Prof. Zhang Fugui of Jilin University, said that the association would implement the requirements of higher authorities; enhance the overall situation consciousness and sense of historical responsibility in future development; carry out work creatively, and promote the dissemination of classic Chinese culture overseas.
