JNU's School of Journalism and Communication officially established the County-Level Integrated Media Base for Research and Practice with Fengkai, Deqing, Sihuiy, Guangning and Huaiji counties in Zhaoqing District, Guangdong, from Oct. 14 to 16. Through relevant research topics and practical projects, the base will explore the new development path of county-level integrated media and comprehensively expand industry-university-research cooperation.

During the opening ceremony, Zhi Tingrong, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, said the base's establishment represented a good beginning toward further strengthening media convergence. He added that it not only boosted the integration of mass media at grassroots level but also provided JNU students and teachers with plenty of opportunities to practice and improve as media workers and learners.
Prof. Yang Xingfeng, honorary dean of JNU's Institute of Communication and National Governance, concluded at a symposium that the base should focus on news awareness, user awareness and market awareness in developing county-level integrated media.

The school launched an integrated media project at county level in 2018. In November 2019, it sent nearly 100 outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to 14 county-level media convergence centers in Guangdong to conduct practical research. Each team worked to build a county-level media convergence center with live broadcasts, pictures matched with texts, audio and video files, producing a total of 28 videos, 420 text articles, 25 H5 advertisements and 280,000 words of research reports.
In addition, the college has established bases with integrated media centers in Lianjiang, Gaozhou and Kaiping. It has also organized experts and scholars to conduct research and guidance and carry out professional technical training.
