The 334th Centennial Course of JNU Cultural Lecture Seminar, jointly held by the Publicity Department of the JNU Committee of the Communist Party of China and JNU's Research Academy of Cultural Heritage and Creative Industry kicked off at Zengxianzi Science Museum on Shipai campus on Oct. 16. Lin Zhenzhong, a guest professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Environmental Art Design, presided. Focusing on the topic Design Inspiration Comes From the Beauty Around People, Lin shared his attitudes toward life and aesthetics.

Life itself always goes before aesthetics, Lin said, and since the latter has nothing to do with sophisticated academic terms taught only in classes, it makes more sense to when reflected in real experiences and feelings in daily life. He said he expected to see aesthetics realize its real values in everyday life.
As for ways to discover beauty, Lin emphasized the significance of empathy with nature, Design inspiration derives from daily life, he said. It's just around you. That is to say, quality human work requires of human feelings as its foundation.
Lin is also the founder of the Tsinghua Life Lecture Seminar; a course professor at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts City Design School; and a special researcher in JNU's Research Academy of Cultural Heritage and Creative Industry.
