The center was also recommended by China News Agency, Overseas Chinese University and Hong Kong Baptist University's Chinese department. It is another breakthrough for JNU's national scientific research platform after the establishment of the Research Base for Building the Chinese Nation's Sense of Community.
The center focuses on three closely related research directions: the interpretation of Chinese culture, the audience for it, and the ways of its continuity and transmission. The research aims to solve the practical problems that Chinese culture is unreasonably expressed, narrowly spread or easily cheapened in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas.
The Collaborative Innovation Center is an important carrier of the Innovation Capability Enhancement Plan of Colleges and Universities, better known as the 2011 Plan, a major national strategic move in higher education. Centers' orientations are divided into four types: scientific frontiers, cultural inheritance and innovation, industries and regional development. JNU's center is oriented toward cultural inheritance and innovation.
