Profs. Li Baojun and Xin Hongbao and members of the Institute of Nanophotonics have published their research on optically controlled biological micromotors in the international academic journal Nano Letters. They constructed living biological micromotors that can be used for non-contact manipulation, targeted delivery, controlled degradation and removal of biological targets in different biological environments, such as saliva, plasma, serum, blood and bone marrow fluid. Their work was also featured as a Spotlight special report by the international academic media Nanowerk with the title Turning Tiny Algae Into Living Micromotors Controlled by Light.
