Seven JNU volunteer projects have won prizes totaling 100,000 yuan in support funds from the Yimiao Plan, a volunteer project competition, with JNU ranking second n Guangdong universities. Among them, the project Volunteer Service at the County-Level Media Center in Guangdong Province: The Last Step to Get Through the Publicity Work from the School of Journalism and Communication was rated one of the Top 10 demonstrative projects.
Among the 17 provincial projects with continuous support were the Zhuhai campus's Silent Shutter project and a free medical diagnosis project from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Rated as a key cultivation project was the Hanyi Mini-Class project from the College of Chinese Language and Culture. Selected as excellent projects in the special competition for civilized practice in the new era were Voluntary Service for Civilized Practice in the New Era from the School of Economics and China Dream-Healthy Village Tour from the the First Clinical Medical College. Named an excellent project in the Special Competition for College Students' Voluntary Service Community Action was the Garbage Sorting project from the College of Science and Engineering.
The theme of the 2020 Yimao Plan, jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Communist Youth League and the Guangdong Cultural Affairs Office, is “Volunteer to Contribute to the New Era.” Since the plan's implementation in 2014, a number of volunteer service projects have been selected every year for community, rural, universities, industry and other service fields to provide financial support and capacity-building.
