Liu Jimin from Taiwan earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Jinan University's School of Management. His father was from Taiwan, his mother from Hunan. I bridge both sides of the strait, he said.
After graduating from the School of Management in July, Liu was determined to develop his career in the mainland. With his friends, he founded Zhihang Cross-Border E-Commerce Co. Ltd. in the Cross-Strait Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base in Hunan Province.

JNU provides numerous resources for its students such as the Chinese Culture Tour held annually, entrepreneurship competitions of many kinds and Maker Space of We Innovation for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Youth, which benefit me a lot, Liu said. Whenever he mentions his alma mater, Liu can't help feeling that his growth was inseparable from the various opportunities provided by the school.

Take the Chinese Culture Tour organized by JNU as an example, he said. I have appreciated scenery and customs in many cities. In the meantime, I have visited various distinctive factories and cultural entrepreneurship projects, which gave me a whole different definition of 'product.' Hence I would like more people to get to know the Chinese mainland, which is very important.”
This very experience led Liu to choose cross-border e-commerce as his career. He hopes to sell quality products to Taiwan customers. In addition, he combines e-commerce with the Belt and Road Initiative, hoping to bring Chinese products made with wisdom to the world.

Liu and his partners have a long-term plan, even though they only recently started their business. When the number of our stores and sales stabilize Liu said, I would like to establish a subsidiary in Taiwan, then sell products through live streaming, have our own logistics and expand overseas market eventually.”

In September, Liu's cousin will attend college in the Chinese mainland. Liu was even happier than when he was accepted.“I always wish my relatives and friends could come visit the mainland,”he said. “Youngsters from both sides ought to communicate and better understand each other.”
