The finals of the third TCM Clinical Skills Competition were held online on June 7. Judges included Chen Jiaxu, dean of the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Cai Lin, secretary of the school’s Party Committee. Because of the epidemic, all events in this competition were carried out on Zoom, and the finals were broadcast simultaneously on the Bilibili online live broadcast platform. The finals attracted thousands of viewers online, with a peak viewership of 1,300.

The number of TCM students attending the competition hit a record high of 64 from 16 teams; more than 70%
were Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas. Chen called the competition a treasure of Chinese civilization that has played an important role in the fight against the Covid-19.
He asked teachers in the school to value this competition to promote the level of teaching and said he hoped students could make good use of this opportunity to improve their clinical skills comprehensively.
After the preliminary match on May 31 and the semifinals on June 6, six teams advanced to the finals.
Since the first TCM Clinical Skills Competition in 2016, the event has been one of the most popular campus cultural activities among students in the major. Because they could not return to campus this semester because of the Covid-19, this was its first online live broadcast, unexpectedly attracting great attention. Under conditions of epidemic prevention and control at JNU, it was a successful effort to enrich students’ cultural life using the internet and provided a way to spread TCM culture widely.
