Pair Assistance Symposium between JNU and Wuyi University was held on May 28 at Wuyi University in Jiangmen City. Xia Quan, deputy secretary of the JNU Party Committee and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, and other JNU representatives attended.
Zhang Kun, secretary of the Wuyi Party Committee, and Zhang Yunhua, president of the University, opened the symposium with an introduction to achievements since the two universities were paired at the end of 2018, especially in a joint laboratory and a graduate training base. They then expressed thanks for JNU’s great help in steadily promoting the assistance plan. Adhering to the assisting principle of joint research, they opened a new chapter in the pair assistance between university for overseas Chinese and hometown of overseas Chinese.”
On behalf of JNU's party and government leaders, Xia said it was a great honor for JNU to undertake this kind of partnership of college education talents, deployed and carried out by the Organization Department of the Guangdong Provincial Party committee and its Education Working Committee. He also said he looked forward to deep cooperation with Wuyi University, which also has a profound background in overseas Chinese education.

At the meeting which both leaders of the two universities attended, Zhang Zhenjiang of JNU's Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies and Zhang Guoxiong of Wuyi University's Overseas Chinese Culture Research Center signed an agreement to jointly promote the key disciplines of the province. They exchanged views on how to give full play to the two universities’ different characteristics in research on overseas Chinese culture and jointly cultivate the characteristic brand in the field.  Since the counterpart assistance relationship was established in December 2018, JNU and Wuyi University have made remarkable achievements in discipline construction, personnel training, faculty-building, scientific research, achievement transformation and exchange, and other core tasks while building a deep friendship.
