JNU's Panyu campus held a school resumption drill for epidemic prevention and control on May 8 to improve its emergency response to Covid-19 and ensure students' teaching and life when they return to school.
The drill had two parts: students’ re-entry and daily life, and the school's emergency response. Seven important procedures include entry to and departure from school, identity verification at each department’s reception desk, and the management of laboratories, student dormitories and canteens.
Outside the south gate, the campus has set up a temperature testing station and a temporary observation area for students entering and leaving. Everybody entering campus, mostly students, must have their temperatures taken and health QR codes checked before entering campus. Panyu campus also drilled staff members on detecting suspected cases through symptoms like high temperature.

After temperature-taking outside the gate, students must go to their department's reception point, where they will have their identification checked, sign a written confirmation of health under the guidance of the department staff, and receive a leaflet on the student code of conduct.
Panyu campus drilled students in the School of Pharmacy on entering the laboratory to do experiments. Teachers and staff members from the school and the Laboratory and Equipment Management Department detailed regulations and precautions for laboratory management.

The drill has prepared the dormitory staff to take students' temperatures at the entrance, register their identities and quickly take emergency actions like sending students with suspected coronavirus symptoms to the school infirmary for tests.

Panyu campus also conducted drills on guiding students to dine in canteens during the outbreak. Instructions include keeping social distancing, washing hands before meals, entering through different gates to avoid crowding, and emergency response to suspected cases.
