The opening ceremony of the 6th Lingnan tour for excellent Taiwan students in Guangdong was held at JNU on Oct. 9. To strengthen Taiwan students’ sense of belonging to China and their cultural identity, this tour is sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Association for the Promotion of Exchanges Across Taiwan Straits and co-sponsored by the Guangdong Department of Culture and Tourism, JNU and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Lingnan is the name of the area south of the Five Ridges in China.

With the theme of “The Exploration of Maritime Silk Road Culture,” the tour enabled the students to witness the vigorous development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through educational excursions, visits and exchanges. Interested in traditional Chinese culture, these students gained a deep understanding of the initiation and implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, exploring the arduous course of preceding generations. Specifically, the tour enhanced their ethnic identity and kinship among compatriots.
