Delegates from Dong Zong, the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia, led by Chairman Chen Youxin, visited JNU’s College of Chinese Language and Culture on Aug. 27th. The two sides discussed cooperation in Chinese education scholarship and physical education.
At a symposium, Shao Yi, dean of the college, introduced its development history, establishment of majors, faculty building, major projects in Chinese education, and the development plan in the coming years. He said he hoped that the two sides could have more opportunities for exchange and learning.
Chen said that Malaysia, as a country along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative, has geographical advantages and Chinese culture can be spread to other places through Dong Zong’s experience in Chinese education.
Established in 1954, Dong Zong is Malaysia’s national leader in the maintenance and development of Chinese education. It was formed by the Association of Chinese School Management Boards (ACSMB) and the Association of Chinese School Management Boards and Teachers in each state in the country. ACSMB members are the management boards of Chinese schools in each state. Chinese communities in Malaysia set up and run schools by organizing school boards.
