Jinan University held the meeting and opening ceremony for four discipline Innovation and Talent Introduction Centers of colleges and universities on July 10. They are the Chinese Medicine Center for New Drug Discovery and Modern Innovation; the Innovation Center for Central Nerve Injury and Recovery; the Research Center for Molecular Mechanism Innovation of Immune Regulation; and the Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation.
The centers were unveiled by Yi Fangping, deputy director of the Department of Cultural and Educational Experts in the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs; Lao Zhihong, deputy director-general of the Guangdong Human Resources and Social Security Department; Yang Peijun, deputy inspector of the Guangdong Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs; JNU President Song Xianzhong, and representatives of the centers.

At the meeting, Song introduced JNU's school-running characteristics and its main achievements in attracting overseas talents. He also pointed out that through innovation and talents introduction plans of universities and disciplines, JNU had made distinct achievements in improving innovative ability in key disciplines and in the structure of high-level talents. Its introduction of many overseas talents has played a key role in the school’s development.

Yi highly praised JNU’s talent introduction program, pointing out that since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October 2017, the party and the country have paid great attention to the introduction of foreign experts. He said he hoped JNU would vigorously introduce talents with high levels of education and advanced technology to bring the driving effect of these centers into full play.
Lao expressed great appreciation of the significant role of JNU's talent cultivation and discipline construction in the Guangdong talent introduction project. He said he hoped JNU could further the talents aggregation effect to support the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area and to make Guangdong the Vanguard in Four Aspects proposed by President Xi Jinping: a mechanism for developing a high-quality economy; a new vision of developing a modernized economy; new ground in pursuing opening-up on all fronts; and a social governance model based on collaboration, participation and common interests.
The heads of all the Innovation and Talent Introduction Centers reported on their achievements and targets.
