Film by JNU Arts College Shown at Centro Cultural Chino-Panameño

To celebrate the first anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Panama, a series of cultural and educational exchange activities was held on July 4 at the Centro Cultural Chino-Panameño in Panama City. The short film “Amor Sin Fronteras,” on friendly relations between the two countries, was shown during the celebration, whose theme was Panamanian and Chinese Closer With ‘The Belt and Road’ Initiative’ and the Blood of Chinese People Thicker Than Water.” The film was produced by the College of Arts of JNU.
The film was commissioned by the Publicity Department of the Huadu District Committee of the Communist Party of China in early June. It was made by a team consisting of Prof. Li Xuewu, president of the college, who served as the film’s planner; teacher Zheng Wei, the scriptwriter and producer; teacher Liu Xing, the director; and other teachers and students from disciplines including animation and direction of drama, film and television.

As a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, Huadu District in Guangdong has about 200,000 people living in Panama, accounting for about 80% of Panama’s total overseas Chinese population. Based on different cultures and languages, the team mainly focused on Panamanian Chinese children studying in Huadu District. Using a variety of art forms, including documentary and animation, the film presents the friendship between Chinese and Panamanians and the kinship of Huadu people and the Panamanian Chinese. It was complimented by the Publicity Department and audiences from China and Panama.
