The 30th-anniversary celebration of cooperation and exchange between JNU and Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in Michigan was held on July 11 at JNU’s Alumni Building. In attendance were JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng; Wang Yu, JNU deputy director of International Exchange and Cooperation; Chen Weiju, party secretary of the School of Nursing; Party Secretary Zha Zhengang; Deputy Secretary Bi Sicheng; Vice President Chen Yubin; and all staff members involved in the exchange program in the last 30 years of the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU. Representing SVSU were Vice President John Decker; Prof. Judith Ruland, dean of the Faculty of Health and Human Services; and SVSU nursing professors Sally Decker, Andrea Frederick and Marcia Shannon.
Zha said the cooperation and exchange between the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU and SVSU has built a communication bridge for Sino-U.S. cooperation, providing opportunities for students and teachers at the two institutions to broaden their horizons and learn from each other. Ruland, Sally Decker, Frederick and Shannon were appointed guest professors at JNU, with Lin issuingthe appointment letter and JNU badges. (Translator: Zhang Xinyu) John Decker and Ruland expressed their expectations for further cooperation and deeper exchanges, explorations and friendship with JNU in the next 30 years.
Lin expressed heartfelt thanks to Yan Shanbang, vice president of SVSU, and Crystal M.Lange, dean of its Department of Nursing, for their establishment of this exchange program and to SVSU professors for their instruction and help to JNU’s visiting scholars.
Since the First Affiliated Hospital established its relationship with SVSU in1988, deep exchanges, cooperation and exploration between the two sides have helped JNU establish its nursing discipline and make it international.
