JNU, Tencent Hold 2019 Annual Conference of China Law Society

The 2019 annual conference of the Cyberspace and Information Law Research Institute of the China Law Society was held in Shenzhen on Oct. 13 and 14. It was sponsored by the China Law Society, jointly undertaken by JNU and Tencent, and co-organized by the Shenzhen Law Society. With “development and security of the digital economy” as the theme, in-depth discussions on policies, regulations and industrial development of the digital economy took place in four subforums. Nearly 300 experts and scholars from legal circles, courts and government departments attended.

JNU Vice President Rao Min gave a brief introduction to achievements in the digital economy in recent years, pointing out that JNU had established its cyberspace law research institute at the turn of the century. As cyber and e-commerce law is a major subject in JNU’s Law School, the university established its own Cyberspace and E-Commerce Law Research Institute, affiliated with the Guangdong Province Law Society, at JNU in 2018, with Prof. Liu Yin of the Law School as president. The same year, JNU was authorized to grant doctorates in cyberspace law, which means JNU will intensify efforts to research on cyberspace law, contributing more to the legal status of the community with a shared future in cyberspace.
As the cornerstone of many newly developed technologies and applications, the big-data industry is drawing more and more attention. To lend a hand in cyber law research, JNU Law School will vigorously explore and improve the data property rights and privacy protection mechanism; strengthen cyberspace security; and create a sound institutional environment for the steady development of the digital economy.
As one of the conference organizers, JNU aimed to expand its scope of academic exchange, enhance academic cooperation, and improve China's legislation on   cyberspace and information.
