Prof. Xin Hongbao and Prof. Li Baojun of JNU's Institute of Nanophotonics, along with scholars at the University of California, Berkeley, have published their research results in Nature Communications. The results represent a significant advance in nanophotonics by applying the imaging method to capture biological electron tunneling in live cells for the first time.
 

It is a truly remarkable set of experiments, an elegant solution to current approaches, the editor remarked when reviewing the paper. The technique is unprecedented in biological environments, especially live cells, and the paper could open up a new set of imaging modalities.
