A JNU team of three teachers from School of Nursing -- Zhu Xiaowen, Wang Ziwen and Lv Weitao -- won third prize in the Chinese Nursing Association National Nursing College Teachers' Competition of Clinical Skills in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Aug. 2, with 276 teachers from 92 nursing colleges and schools nationwide participating.
The competition was designed to promote a close connection between the teaching of nursing colleges and clinical practice, and to elevate the teaching ability of full-time and part-time nursing teachers. It assessed practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Through comprehensive cases in treating critically ill patients, the competition examined not only the contestants' nursing skills, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, electrocardiogram monitoring and intravenous infusion, but also their team spirit, clinical thinking and humanistic care.
This competition mode, being very close to clinical practice, has played a role in promoting the integration of medical service and education, as well as improving the comprehensive teaching ability of teachers in nursing colleges.
