A JNU delegation won second prize in the fifth College Students' First Aid Skill Competition, held in the gymnasium of Guangzhou Medical University’s Yuexiu campus on July 16 and 17.
In line with the call of the Guangdong Red Cross Society and Provincial Education Department, an undergraduate Red Cross ambulance team, was formed on May 5 by Cai Zhe, a teacher in the Mental Health Education Center. Zheng Zihua, a doctor in the university hospital, was invited to serve as the coach. On June 3, Zheng, together with the team leader He Zhenyi and team member Li Peiyao, attended a preparatory meeting at Guangdong Medical University to get a preliminary understanding of the competition schedule and the scoring standards for various operations.
On June 22, He took contestants to participate in collective training organized by the Municipal Red Cross Society for all participating teams from universities in Guangzhou.

On July 13, the team members conducted drills on three modules: lectures, theoretical answers and first-aid skills. Two days later, the contestants went to the Clinical Skills Training Center to perform the final drill by the CPR simulator controller according to the requirements of standard instruments.

On July 16 and 17, after strong competition among 42 teams from all over the province, JNU’s team won second prize.
