In the recent application evaluation results of the 2019 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), JNU received funding for 267 projects from NSFC plus one supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in public consultation. JNU’s number of approved projects ranked fifth in Guangdong and 31st in China. It increased by 32 over last year, and the rate of project funding is 23.45% higher than the national average of 17.35%.
The projects supported of JNU include three by the Major Program, one by the Funds for Key International (Regional) Cooperative Research, six by the National Science Foundation for Outstanding Young Scholars, 93 by the General Program, 160 by the young scholars fund, one by the Research Fund for International Young Scientists, two by the Funds for International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange, and one by the Joint Funds for Fostering Talents.
JNU's first projects have been awarded 108,1734 million yuan in direct funds, continuing steady growth over the same period last year, and will reap more than 130 million yuan for scientific research.

JNU received funding for 11 major and key flagship projects in the first group, ranking second among all universities in Guangdong and 19th in the nation.

JNU's rate of subsidies from the Funds for Young Scholars ranks second in China
post-doctoral projects account for nearly 40% of approved projects
With 160 projects funded by NSFC, JNU hit a new high in 2019, ranking 14th in China. The rate of project funding for distinguished young scholars was 27.30%, second only to Tsinghua University. Moreover, the postdoctoral scientific research group received 65 projects, accounting for 40.62% of total funded projects.
