JNU's first students, mostly doctoral candidates in graduating classes in science, engineering and medicine, returned to campus on May 11 after the Covid-19 epidemic. In preparation, JNU released Notice on Students’ Returning to Campus for 2020 Spring Semester on May 8.

Based on JNU's arrangements for students' return and the principle of a staggered return, doctoral candidates, graduates and preparatory undergraduates offered on-campus housing are to return to campus in eight batches, with a new one every seven days starting May 11. Graduating students from key regions in the epidemic prevention and control are to return in two batches with a 15-day interval starting May 20.

JNU set up a working group to ensure students' orderly return. Several epidemic prevention and control simulations were also carried out on JNU's five campuses in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai to ensure that each campus's epidemic prevention and control work during students' return is scientific and operational.
Every returning student to campus will be offered a gift pack at the sign-in booth at every campus gate. Inside each pack are 28 masks, sanitary supplies like disinfectant, and JNU Students' Dos and Don'ts on campus for Epidemic Prevention and Control.

JNU will continue its online teaching and testing for postgraduates and undergraduates to ensure that all students may complete their studies successfully.
