A delegation led by Carlos Giralt, Mexico's consul general in Guangzhou, visited JNU on March 21 to discuss enhancing cultural and educational exchanges between China and Mexico. Vice President Zhang Hong met with the delegation.
Giralt said JNU had a long history of education and profound cultural heritage, making a deep impression on the delegation members. He said the Mexican government attached great importance to cultural exchanges and cooperation with China, and he expressed hope that the two sides would continue to enhance communication and contribute to a greater cooperation in fields including language promotion, natural herbal medicine research and cultural exchanges. He invited JNU's delegation to visit Mexico to build stronger ties.
Zhang responded favorably to Giralt's proposal, saying JNU attached great importance to cooperation and exchanges with Mexican universities and scientific research institutions. As a next step, JNU plans to establish a Spanish Department while committing to teaching Chinese in Mexico to promote the partnership between JNU and Mexican universities.
JNU boasts rich experience and resources in natural herbal medicine research. The two sides hope to share resources in this field and make hand-in-hand development in the future, Zhang said. He also welcomed the delegation of Mexican universities to visit JNU.
