A research paper titled Embryonic endothelial evolution towards first hematopoietic stem cells revealed by single-cell transcriptomic and functional analyses has been published as the cover story in the current issue of Cell Research (Impact Factor: 17.8). The co-authors and corresponding authors are Yu Lan, a researcher in JNU's School of Medicine; Bing Liu, JNU chair professor and researcher at the Fifth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital; and Fuchou Tan, a researcher in Peking University's College of Life Sciences. This paper reflects their findings in the field of hematopoietic stem cell development.
The cover illustration, a fish leaping over the dragon gate (denoting that something has passed a competitive examination), represents the transformation that primitive vascular ECs from E8.0 experienced two-step fate choices to become HSC-primed HECs. In the fierce competition for the cover of Cell Research, scientific findings and high-quality cover illustrations are important evaluation criteria. Leading experts in the field of hematopoietic stem cell development and members of the United States National Academy of Sciences will conduct a professional review of the research.
This research was supported by scientific institutes including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation and the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology.
