JNU hosted the 2019 International and Overseas Chinese Education Annual Meeting on Jan. 9 to summarize its achievements in the field in 2018 and to provide ideas for more international education projects. These projects would help break new ground in international and overseas exchange and cooperation, serving the Belt and Road initiative and constructing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
President Song Xianzhong reported on the new conditions and mission of constructing a Double First-Class university with the new tendency toward opening up higher education.

Ye Lan, head of the Foreign Affairs Administration Division of the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Offices, made a statement on action guiding China's work abroad in the new era from fields including President Xi Jinping's diplomatic thinking, the overall national security outlook, notes for official visits, handling of foreign-related issues and overseas consular protection.
JNU Vice President Zhang Hong emphasized that JNU should expand international exchange and cooperation because of its importance based on construction of a Double First-Class university.
The meeting gave awards to 10 units and 20 staff members who have made major contributions to JNU’s international and China's overseas exchange and cooperation.
