To enhance the prevention and control of Covid-19 at JNU and to check the scientificity and operability of that work when students return to their campuses, JNU organized a simulation exercise on epidemic prevention and control on Shipai campus on April 17. The drill was inspected by JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, President Song Xiangzhong, Vice President Rao Min and other school leaders. It was co-scheduled by all departments of the school, with more than a hundred middle-level cadres and faculty members participating.

Covid-19 prevention and control consist of two modules: the situation of teachers and students carrying out relevant activities in normal conditions on campus, and emergency responses to the detection of people with fevers or abnormal situations. The work covers monitoring teachers and students entering the campus; curricular and extracurricular activities in the teaching building; students studying in the library and their lives in dormitories; dining in the canteen; and daily management of the centralized medical observation area.

When entering the campus through detection channels and temporary observation posts, students need to have their identification and temperatures checked. In addition, the emergency response procedures for dealing with students from high-risk areas or overseas and those with abnormal body temperatures or suspected symptoms were also carefully practiced.

During the emergency response exercise on canteen dining and abnormal body temperatures, students were required to check their temperatures before entry, queue for meals and dine at separate tables. In the teaching and extracurricular activities exercises, students were arranged to sit apart in classrooms. The emergency response to suspected cases was particularly tested in both classrooms and student dormitories. In the centralized medical observation area, the school staff simulated on site the process of students going into their rooms, garbage disposal and daily disinfection.

Drills on epidemic prevention and control were also held that day on JNU's Zhuhai campus, on the Shenzhen campus and in the College of Chinese Language and Culture. The drill had previously been held on Panyu campus.
