JNU has been granted funding for four projects, with a total of 31 million yuan, in the fifth batch of the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology's 2020 project approvals of research and development plans in key areas, announced April 7.
In the field of Laser and Additive Manufacturing, the project Highly Stable and Ultra-Fast Ultraviolet Laser, led by Prof. Chen Zhenqiang of JNU's College of Science and Engineering, received major project funding of 16 million yuan.
In the field of Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Lingnan, three key projects were funded with 15 million yuan: Research and Development of Active Ingredients and Innovative Drugs of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Lingnan,” led by Prof. Ye Wencai of JNU's College of Pharmacy; Systematic Research on Syndrome Differentiation Standard of Qi Stagnation, led by Prof. Chen Jiaxu of the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and The Construction and Comprehensive Evaluation on International Standard System of the Quality of Eight Kinds of Traditional Chinese Medicine With Guangdong Characteristics by Prof. Cao Hui of the College of Pharmacy.
The approval of these four projects is an important achievement in JNU's construction of a high-level and double first-class university.
The research and development plan in the key research fields is a major project in strategic and frontier fields facing China to solve the problem of key core technologies under the control of others in Guangdong, which guide and set an example for the whole country. Modernization of Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine is the first key special project in traditional Chinese medicine established in the plan. Among the 22 projects approved in the plan, JNU won three, showing the strength of the double first-class discipline of pharmacy at JNU.
