Signing in with student IDs,learners have free access to over 1,600 high-quality courses and can earn credits through the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Greater Bay Area Online Open Courses Alliance for its member colleges and universities.

The alliance, founded in November 2018, is China's first university curriculum construction and application alliance for the Greater Bay Area. It is guided by Guangdong Department of Education with JNU as its presiding unit. The alliance aims to encourage the formation of a community for construction and application, resource-sharing, credit transfer and mutual benefit in shared online open courses, thus promoting the development of a university cluster in the Greater Bay Area. To date,the alliance platform has involved 63 institutions in the area with 1,643 courses. Over 100,000 students have enrolled; 25 universities take elective curriculum from the alliance; and 38,000 users have selected course on the platform.
The Covid-19 outbreak has posed a great challenge to higher institutions' online teaching in Guangdong. To meet the needs of colleges and universities, the alliance has introduced high-quality course resources through full communication with MOOC platforms. In just one month, the number of online courses leaped from 600 to 1,600,covering such various first-level disciplines as literature, medicine and science, with many premium courses that have had millions of participants. The number of MOOC platforms cooperating with the alliance has risen from seven to eight, offering rich resources to online education at higher institutions in Guangdong. During the outbreak, 18 universities have selected online courses on the portal system, with 420 courses selected and enrollment reaching 32,000.
On March 1, the alliance cooperated with the Guangdong Department of Education to launch the first lesson of the semester in 2020 in Guangdong and offer technological support. In less than a week, 146,000 students were participating in such courses.

Currently,63 colleges and universities have joined the alliance,including five in Hong Kong and Macao: Chinese University of Hong Kong,Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Macao,City University of Macao and Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Member universities from Hong Kong and Macao have brought various courses online, including Creativity, Beauty of Kun Opera, Business Ethnics and Western and Eastern Decision-Making Wisdom, which are free to all member universities and colleges.

The alliance has joined the regional University Open Online Course platform initiated by Shenzhen University to organize two live public service lessons titled Online Teaching Cases Sharing of Higher Institutions. Eleven prominent teachers from nine colleges and universities in Guangdong have shared their experience in the live broadcast, which has registered 50,000 learners.
