Associate Prof. Shi Wei and Assistant Prof. Qiu Yun of JNU’s Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR), together with Chen Xi, an assistant professor at the Yale School of Public Health, have published their paper Impacts of Social and Economic Factors on the Transmission of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in China in the Journal of Population Economics. The paper discusses China’s prevention and control policies on curbing the spread of Covid-19 caused by population movement, which may be useful references for coronavirus-affected countries. Major findings in this thesis were reported by the Global Labor Organization on its official website as soon as the paper was available. Its research results were also reported by Global Times, Huanqiu.net, Xinhua.net, People's Daily Online and other top media.

Shi graduated from Ohio State University's Department of Economics in 2016 and is now an associate professor in IESR researching econometrics, urban economics and real estate economics. He has published many works in top international journals, including Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Urban Economics and Journal of Population Economics.
Qiu graduated from Ohio State's Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Developmental Economics in 2016 and is now an assistant professor in IESR, focusing on environmental and resource economics. She has published works in leading journals, including Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and Journal of Population Economics.
