JNU makes progress in developing Greater Bay Area

Date: Apr 10th, 2020
Source: Development & Planning Department

JNU held a video conference to promote JNU's Implementation Opinions on an Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on April 9. The conference urged that key construction points and objectives be clarified and that tasks in Implementation Opinions be assigned to help build JNU into a double top university in first-class universities and disciplines in the world. JNU Vice President Hong An presided, and nearly 60 leading members of JNU's Greater Bay Area Work Joint Meeting attended.
Implementation Opinions, which makes clear JNU's three development goals and nine key tasks, is an important measure for JNU to implement the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. JNU aims to become the demonstration point of talent training, the support point of international science and technology innovation centers, and the intellectual high point of think-tank research.

(Original document)
Implementation Opinions”clarified nine key tasks:
•To construct the school into a pool for education talents; to facilitate the construction of an international technology innovation center.
•To establish a first-class think-tank center to serve the Greater Bay Area construction.
•To build a humanistic platform for promoting Chinese culture.
•To expand space for employment and entrepreneurship to enhance the introduction and retention of talents.
•To promote resource integration to build a healthy Greater Bay Area.
•To build a Greater Bay Area for leisure relying on its unique advantages.
•To take the new engineering as a starting point to meet the needs of society.
•To promote the work of alumni and school directors to build a platform for cooperation and exchange.
•To facilitate the construction of an international technology innovation center.

After fully affirming the achievements of the special work done by JNU in the Bay Area, Hong set three requirements for further implementation: to attach great importance to the implementation of the work deployment in the document; to clarify future construction priorities and goals by sorting out the relevant institutions and formulating management methods for cooperation in scientific research platforms; and to divide tasks to promote the special work of the Greater Bay Area and the construction of double top universities.
