In the fight against the COVID-19, Jinan students from 123 countries are sharing weal and woe with China and making contributions to winning this battle. They are conveying their concern to China and their alma mater in various ways: writing poems, letters and calligraphy; drawing and painting; singing songs, recording videos, as well as making practical donations.
She Jiaohui, an Indonesian graduate of JNU, has posted information about masks on WeChat. People who are willing to donate masks can come to me and then we can donate them together, She wrote. On Feb. 7, knowing about the shortage of masks in China, She and nine other Indonesian JNU alumni immediately decided to launch public welfare activities on Instagram, WeChat and other social platforms, inviting friends from all over the world to donate masks to China. More than 15,000 masks were sent from Indonesia to 19 provinces and municipalities, including Hubei, Guangdong, Shanghai, Henan, Zhejiang and Guizhou.

On the other side of the Pacific, Fatahi Mehdi, an American student at JNU, learned about the lack of masks at Wuhan colleges. With the help of his friends, he reached out to the people who were seeking help. He and other volunteers bought 5,000 masks and donated them to the students in Wuhan. No matter how hard it is, he said, I will meet the challenge side by side with China, and I hope that I can bring smiles back to the children's faces.”
Chen Jingyu, a business English major in the class of 2019, is an overseas Chinese from Dubai. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, he has been helping his family seek resources there, purchasing more than 500,000 masks from overseas for Chinese hospitals and government departments. Knowing JNU needed masks, Chen donated 12,000 to the school.
A Yemeni student identified as Sana was interviewed by Al Jazeera, the largest TV station in the Arabic-speaking world, on video on March 8. In the interview, she described China's unremitting efforts to fight the epidemic, including the Chinese government's measures to distribute masks, measure body temperature, and expand foreigners' awareness of the epidemic. She also expressed her gratitude to JNU and support to the Chinese people.

An international student from Johannesburg, South Africa, identified as Layla, is on the youth volunteer service team of JNU’s epidemic prevention and control science popularization. She said the team has spread knowledge and answered questions about COVID-19 for nearly 60,000 people, including more than 500 international students and teachers.
To express support and encouragement for the Chinese people, Apoorva Vishwanath, a clinical medical student from India in the class of 2016, wrote a poem titled Let's Be Together and painted a poster saying, China, India is with you.”
