In response to JNU's shortage of epidemic prevention and control supplies, Chen Yikang, a member of JNU's applied chemistry class of 1998 and an investor in the Guangdong Jinan Established Selenium Source Nano Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., donated disinfectant manufacturing equipment worth 68,000 yuan and the raw materials worth 10,000 yuan on Feb. 1. He was just one of many JNU alumni donating to their alma mater to fight the novel coronavirus.
By noon on Feb. 1, the JNU Education Development Foundation had received donations equivalent to more than 2.3 million yuan from all sectors of society. These donations will be used to buy medical supplies to fight Covid-19 and subsidize medical teams and logistical support personnel sent by JNU to Wuhan.

JNU alumni associations and organizations from countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Britain, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia called on JNU alumni via WeChat groups and other social platforms to donate. Alumni contacted various parties to purchase relief supplies from abroad and transported them to JNU. The JNU Alumni Association of Hong Kong and Macao also raised funds to support the medical teams. Chen Xiangfan and Huang Yuzhen of the Hong Kong Community Volunteers of JNU donated HK$100,000 and 200,000 yuan, respectively, and Ma Youheng, president of the JNU Alumni Association of Macao, donated 200,000 yuan.
