JNU sends first medical team to Wuhan

Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia (Covid-19), Jinan University has worked out practical guidelines and procedures for prevention and control, along with emergency and logistics plans to ensure the orderly and effective implementation of all work. More important, in response to the unified arrangements of the state and Guangdong for novel coronavirus prevention and control, JNU quickly organized a nine-member medical team from JNU's First Affiliated Hospital. This first medial team set out for Wuhan on the eve of the Lunar New Year to offer timely assistance. Tan Tianxing, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, sent new year's greetings to the nine Jinan soldiers, urging them to take good care of yourselves and work together to combat the virus!
JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, President Song Xianzhong, and Vice President Ye Wencai inspected JNU First Affiliated Hospital on Jan. 21. After hearing the hospital's arrangements for the holiday and for prevention and treatment of the virus, JNU leaders asked the hospital to ensure the safety of its front-line medical staff and make comprehensive plans and systematic arrangements according to the instructions of the nation and the National Health Commission.

The first medical team comprising 128 personnel from Guangdong left for Wuhan on Jan. 24, among them nine from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University.

This Guangdong medical team would provide assistance for Wuhan Hankou Hospital and take over two of its wards. Hankou Hospital, in Wuhan's Jiang'an District, is one of the designated hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19. After formulation of regulations, personnel training and hospital research on Jan. 25, the medical team officially entered Hankou Hospital on Jan. 26.
