Six Guangdong key research platforms in humanities and social sciences at JNU were rated excellent this year, with JNU ranking first among universities in Guangdong. The upgrading of industry and transformation and development of enterprise have hit a bottleneck as China's economy reaches a new normal. In this context, JNU's Enterprises Development Research Institute (EDRI) has launched a series of academic research and social services based on enterprise transformation and development. As a result, EDRI has been labeled a distinctive research platform for theoretical output and achievement transformation in the field in Guangdong.
Wei Haiying, EDRI's director since 2013, realized that the institute should focus on enterprise transformation development, which require a team, a system and an environment. Research project bidding is essential to creating a unique research platform and connecting the team. In the last five years, 63 experts from JNU, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Finance and 17 other institutions and enterprises have been involved in research on enterprise transformation and development.

Wei's 15-member team has undertaken 11 national research projects and 12 provincial programs. It has become a model of how to work together and share development outcomes for all EDRI teams throughout China.
In recent years, EDRI researchers have made great achievements in scientific research projects, especially in major projects and high-level papers. They have undertaken 35 national and provincial projects, won 7 provincial research awards, and published 69 papers in leading journals in China and abroad, as well as more than 20 monographs and textbooks.

The institute also actively undertakes projects entrusted by party and government offices, enterprises and social organizations, giving full play to serving the local economy. Since 2014, institute staff members have undertaken four research projects commissioned by various government agencies; some of their achievements have been highly valued and approved by the main leaders of the Guangdong party committee and government. The institute has released more than 20 corporate consulting reports and undertaken 31 projects, with funding of RMB 9.892 million.
EDRI has discussed with the Milan Zhejiang Association issues related to the construction of the Belt and Road Chinese business case database. The two sides reached consensus on promoting the sharing of data and resources of the case database and academic research by signing a memorandum of understanding last May.
